Another on-set rumor, this time coming from someone so highly placed, we don’t even want to use the cute name they gave us:
Shooting a major bridge scene today. Kirk facing down the big bad over the monitor, just like Shatner did Khan in Star Trek II. The conversation ends, and Kirk orders the newest addition to the crew - Lt. Imran Hooth - to get a team ready to beam down. Imran Hooth, if the name didn’t tip you off, is a turbanned Muslim security officer. Abrams mentioned this specifically in a meeting - saying he wanted to reach out to the Muslims of today like Roddenberry did the Russians of the 1960s. Stunning and brave, to say the least.

I thought they were finished filming bridge scenes–or was that just Zachary Quinto?

Occasionally, we do timeshift entries in order to protect those who offered details to us.

Stupid mush-headed thinking. “Muslim” is not a nationality. or a race. or a species. Muslims are adherents of a religion. A particularly misogynist, supremacist, violent, and oppressive religion, at that. Roddenberry didn’t believe in religion, and Trek avoided it. Roddenberry aside, I think it would be good for all of our infidel necks if the philosophy of this hate cult didn’t make it to the bridge of the Enterprise.
